Thousands of guests gathered at the Bomana War Cemetery on Anzac day 2014 to mark the 99th anniversary of the ANZAC landing. The ceremony took place overlooking the 3,779 graves of Australian, Papua New Guinean and Allied servicemen that lost their lives fighting in PNG in World War Two.

At the ceremony, the Prime Minister of PNG, Mr Peter O'Neil, remarked: "It is on this day that we commemorate the bravery, sacrifice and service of many thousands who fought on our lands, and in our waters, over seventy years ago to preserve our freedom and liberty, our well-being, and our future."

The ceremony began with a New Zealand haka which followed speeches, prayers and hymns thanking past and present soldiers, sailors and air men and women for their service and sacrifice. The ceremony finished with the laying of wreaths, the Last Post and a two minute silence.
